Inspiration and Background

The Artist has been drawn to the sea, mountains and nature since spending holidays with family in Ireland. Her day to day life is split between working part-time in the NHS as a Psychotherapist and her Art practice.

Living in the south west, as for many Artists, remains a huge source of inspiration. Painting and sketching, often 'en plein air' connects her with the environment and its elements; psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Her paintings are a response to the immediate influences of her life and work. Her Art practice often features or are influenced by words, symbolic figures, birds, animals or totems depicting a sense of intrigue, hope, belonging, and connection.

For her being in the landscape is a place to escape, when she paints, she can escape; merging her internal landscape with the external world around her.

The Artist has studied & completed two year long courses at Newlyn School of Art in Cornwall to define her Practice and expand her studio skills.

The Artist is a member of Contemporary Mark Makers Totnes, Devon Artists Network, Torbay Guild of Artists and has shown her work at Artizan Gallery Torquay, Penzance Gallery Cornwall, Powderham Castle Exeter and The Torbay Guild of Artists - at the Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey, Torquay and received a Highly Commended Award in the Oil & Acrylic category for The Dog.
